Is Your Business A Fit? Here’s How We Think About It.

What We Look For

We’re selective, deliberately. We’d rather pass on ten businesses than get one wrong — for us, and for the people whose livelihoods depend on it.

Our first question is never just “is this a good business?” It’s:

“Can we understand how this business makes its money — and can we see how our experience makes it better?”

We don’t need to be technical experts in your industry. That expertise should already exist inside your business, in the people who deliver the work every day. Our job is to strengthen what’s already there — through leadership, systems, and financial discipline — not to replace it.

Where We’re Focused Right Now

Our initial outreach is concentrated on established B2B service businesses across Birmingham and the West Midlands, particularly in:

Facilities management & building services — commercial cleaning, facilities management, property and grounds maintenance, commercial plumbing and electrical, HVAC, fire safety, security and industrial cleaning.

Compliance, testing & inspection — fire safety, electrical testing, water compliance and Legionella, PAT testing, asbestos management, health & safety and environmental compliance.

Specialist maintenance & servicing — equipment and industrial maintenance, fleet maintenance and vehicle repair, drainage, pest control, water treatment and security systems.

B2B outsourced services — training providers, business support services, document management, outsourced administration, specialist logistics and commercial waste.

Property-related services — commercial property maintenance, grounds maintenance, facilities services and property compliance.

What A Good Fit Typically Looks Like

  • Based in Birmingham or the wider West Midlands
  • An established B2B service business, trading for 10+ years
  • Turnover of roughly £1m–£10m
  • Adjusted operating profit of roughly £200k–£750k
  • 10–50 employees
  • A loyal, repeat customer base without excessive reliance on any one client
  • Recurring or highly repeatable revenue
  • An experienced management team already running day-to-day operations
  • A business that doesn’t depend entirely on the current owner to function
  • Modest capital requirements and limited stock

If you’re an owner thinking about the future — perhaps approaching retirement and wanting a responsible buyer who’ll look after your team and customers — this is exactly the conversation we want to have.

To save everyone’s time, we’re upfront about this too. For our first acquisitions, we’re generally not the right buyer for retail, restaurants and hospitality, fashion-led businesses, or businesses that rely heavily on one individual — particularly where the owner is also the main salesperson or technical expert. We also tend to steer clear of manufacturing requiring deep technical expertise, businesses with heavy capital or stock requirements, unpredictable project-based revenue, or markets in long-term decline.

If your business is fundamentally struggling, we’re honestly not the right buyer either — we’re looking for good businesses we can help become better, not businesses that need fixing from the ground up.

Closing Note

This describes where we’re focused first, not the limit of what we’d ever consider. The right business, with the right people and the right fundamentals, can make us think again — even outside these sectors. If in doubt, have the conversation.
